Microsoft announced on the 2 August on their Microsoft Enterprise Mobility and Security Blog that they were changing the sign in pages for all Office 365 services, including all services powered by Azure.
How does this affect you?
The updated sign-in UI aligns the look and feel of the Microsoft account (personal account) and Azure AD (organizational account) identity systems, streamlining the experience of moving between the two. The new experience also prompts users to enter their username on the first screen followed by a credential (typically a password) on a second screen. Users can now test the new experience by clicking on the banner in the top right of the current sign-in page. Users who try this new design can revert to the old experience any time before October. The old sign-in experience will be replaced with the new sign-in experience in the last week of September when we roll this feature out.
What do you need to do to prepare for this change?
This update should not disrupt your users; however, there are certain factors you may want to consider: – Check your company branding: If you have configured company branding it will be carried forward to the new UI. You should verify that it works well with the new layout. If you need to make any changes, you can make them in the “Company branding” pane in the Azure Portal. – Verify automation that runs on the sign-in page: Sign-in is now spread over two screens and existing automation might break. Test and update code if necessary. – Update any documentation and training material that your company may use.
Check to see that your existing company branding, if configured, works well with the new layout
Any company branding you currently have configured will be carried forward to the new UI: sign-in image, banner logo, username hint, sign-in page text and background color. However, the opaque white box in the middle of the new design might obscure the subject focus of your existing image. If you need to make any changes, you can make them in the “Company branding” pane in the Azure Portal.
Verify automation that runs on the sign-in page
Since sign-in is now done over two screens, any existing automation might break. Do a quick test and update your code if necessary.
Update documentation and training material
Documentation containing screenshots and step-by-step guides for signing in might have to be updated to explain the paginated flow and show the new UI.
